The Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, who is in a working visit to Brussels, is attending the regular conference of NATO Military Committee (MC) at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels, today.
The conference, presided by the Chair of the Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, is attended by the Allied Chiefs of Defense from Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), and General Philippe Lavigne, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT).
At the opening session, attended by the Allied Chiefs of Defence and their Invitee counterpart from Sweden, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg addressed the Alliance’s key priorities and challenges.
During the sessions, as planned, Chiefs of Defence discussed current situation on the ground in Ukraine, and NATO and Allied continued support to Ukraine.
During the conference the participants discussed about implementing and strengthening of Alliance’s deterrence and defence posture ahead of the Vilnius Summit decisions; as well as providing additional direction and guidance regarding the major overhaul of NATO’s defence posture, agreed at the Madrid Summit.
Conclusions, on completing today’s Military Committee conference, will be announced by the Chairman and the Allied Supreme Commanders.
General Gjurchinovski will hold bilateral meetings with Allied Chiefs of Defence, to exchange opinions and initiate and strengthen bilateral defence activities.
During his working visit, the Chief of Staff will see National Military Representative to SHAPE in Mons, and will meet with our representatives in the NATO mission.
The Army of the Republic of North Macedonia actively contributes to all NATO activities. Besides international operations and joint exercises, it also takes part in command and staff NATO structure.
Our participation in NATO missions ‘Enhanced Forward Presence’ in Latvia, and ‘Enhanced Vigilance Activities’ in Bulgaria and Romania demonstrates our readiness and interoperability, and makes us a respectable partner in the NATO collective system for deterrence and defence.
