The Army Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, as part of the planned activities during his working stay in the United States of America, visited the production facilities of the General Dynamics Land Systems Company, which is located in London, Ontario, Canada.
General Gjurchinovski talked to the personnel involved in the production process of “Stryker” armored vehicles, discussing the dynamics of the production and delivery of armored vehicles of this type, as a main project in the Long-Term Defense Capabilities Development Plan for modernization and equipping of the Army.
During the visit, the possibilities and characteristics of this type of armored vehicles were presented to the delegation, which according to the procurement contract should come in three variants: command vehicles, mortar version and basic armored personnel carrier.
The delivery of Stryker vehicles to the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia is expected to begin in 2024, making us the first army in Europe to own these modern light infantry armored vehicles.
Earlier, during his stay in the USA, General Gjurchinovski visited the Pentagon, where he held meetings with the highest managers in the National Guard Bureau, the Strategy, Policy and Plans Directorate and experts for the acquisition and export of military equipment. Then in Vermont, as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the cooperation program with the Vermont National Guard, he participated in the signing of the document that continues and deepens the three-decade cooperation.
