Representatives of the US Advisory team from the ISG (Institute for Security Governance) visited the Command of the 1st Infantry Brigade (1IBde). The team was welcomed by the brigade commander, Brigadier General Sashko Lafchiski, and the working meeting was attended by representatives from the Operations Command and the General Staff of the Army.
The aim of the visit was to support the brigade transformation process, as well as the Light Infantry Battalion Group (LIBG), its readiness, personnel transformation, armaments, equipment, and training of the declared personnel with a special emphasis on training for maintaining and repairment of new armoured vehicles and new armament platforms.
At the beginning of the working meeting, the Brigade Commander welcomed the visitors and expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with the US Army. In addition, the team was presented with the structure, mission, and tasks of the brigade which is in the transformation phase, the method of logistic support and the method of maintenance, and repair of the new vehicle platforms and armament. The discussion took place in the area of training and certification of maintainers of the new armored vehicles that we are putting into use in the Army. Staff was briefed by representatives of the US advisory team on the objectives of the upcoming Table Top Exercise (TTX), staff participation and desired outcomes, and programme planning for the exercise in October this year.
At the end of the visit, the USA team expressed willingness to continue and deepen the cooperation in achieving the goals and tasks for an easier overcoming of the challenges during the implementation of the remaining obligations as a NATO member country.
