Today, a ceremony was held at “Ilinden” Barracks in Skopje to mark the transfer of the Chairmanship of the Steering Board of the Balkan Medical Task Force (BMTF), the Change of Command of BMTF, and the transfer of the Framework Nation role within the BMTF. With this ceremony, Macedonia assumed command of the BMTF and the role of Framework Nation, while Slovenia took over the Chairmanship of the Steering Board.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Admir Shabani, the Chief of the Army General Staff, Army generals, representatives of the BMTF member states, members of the military diplomatic corps, and other distinguished guests. During the event, the importance of our country as the host of the BMTF Permanent Organization was emphasized, highlighting this role as recognition of the country’s status as a trusted partner and a nation committed to dialogue, cooperation, and joint solutions.
The outgoing Commander of the Balkan Medical Task Force (BMTF), Colonel Veljko Milic, and the incoming Commander, Colonel Dragancho Vojneski, addressed those present during the handover ceremony.
The ceremony also marked two significant anniversaries – the 15th anniversary of the launch of the initiative to establish the BMTF, and the 10th anniversary of the establishment and inauguration of the BMTF Permanent Organization, headquartered in Skopje. On this occasion, plaques were presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of this initiative over the years.
