On 29 June 2026, the service personnel of the First Infantry Battalion (1st IBn), within the First Infantry Brigade (1st IBde), traditionally marked the death anniversary of the national hero Chede Filipovski – Dame, whose name is given to the barracks in the Kichevo Garrison.
As part of the commemoration, delegations from the Army, the Municipality of Kichevo Association of War Veterans, and family members of the national hero, led by his brother Aleksandar Filipovski – Aco, laid fresh flowers at the bust of Chede Filipovski – Dame, located in the Alley of the Greats within the barracks compound.
In his address, the Commander of the 1st Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Zoranche Ristovski, reflected on the life and legacy of national hero Chede Filipovski – Dame, highlighting his distinguished military and political career and describing him as a man who consistently fought for justice and freedom for his people. He emphasized the importance of remembering the past with gratitude while embracing the present with enthusiasm in order to build a better future.
The commemoration serves as a tribute to the sacrifice and legacy of the national hero Chede Filipovski – Dame and reaffirms the Army’s commitment to preserving military traditions and safeguarding the nation’s historical heritage for future generations.
The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade, Colonel Blerim Ismaili.
