From 16 to 20 August 2026, a delegation from the Vermont National Guard (VNG), United States, led by Brigadier General Eric Gagnon, paid an official visit to the Republic of North Macedonia and the Army.
As part of the visit, the delegation attended the central ceremony marking Army Day at the Water Training Camp in Ohrid and held a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski.
The meeting focused on the development and capabilities of the Army Training Area “Krivolak”, the successful bilateral cooperation between the two armies, joint participation in international exercises and training activities, and cooperation in the field of education and professional development.
The visit reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between the Army and the Vermont National Guard.
