On the occasion of the commemoration of 8 September – Independence Day, a delegation of the Army, led by the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, laid fresh flowers at the final resting places of the country’s first President, Kiro Gligorov, former President Boris Trajkovski, and the first Prime Minister, Nikola Kljusev.
At the invitation of the Prime Minister, Prof. Dr. Hristijan Mickoski, and on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of independence, General Lafchiski also attended the ceremony held on the plateau in front of the Government building.
As part of the Independence Day commemoration programme, the Army Honour Guard Battalion conducted a ceremonial change of the national flag in front of the Government building.
Through these activities, the Army paid tribute to the holiday marking the sovereignty, independence and statehood of our country.
