The mural “Sutjeska” was painted by Borko Lazeski on 12.5 square meters, now it is far from the eyes of the public, but it is in an excellent condition. It is painted on the wall in the Memorial Room of the National Liberation War in the barracks “Alekso Demnievski Bauman” in Veles. The motive is the fight of the partisans, and the author painted it in 1971.
The mural “Sutjeska” pictures the attack of the partisans on the enemy. The forms have characteristics of post-cubism, with certain elements of expressionism and futurism. The forms are presented with evident simplicity and mainly cold coloring. Even though this is a thematic art, a more modern representation of the National Liberation War theme can be noticed. Elica Nikolova, a historian of art and curator in the National Museum in Veles, says that this is an important piece of the art created by Lazeski.
The dimension of the mural is five by two and a half meters and it can be seen by the guests in this military facility on different receptions and ceremonies on certain important dates in the military history of the barracks.

“For the city, for the people, for the culture, it is important that we have this mural, which together with the mosaic created by Petar Mazev in the memorial ‘Kosturnica’ are the only pieces of art of this type in Veles and this is a priceless treasure, monumental art. They are the pride of the city, heritage for future generations. Unfortunately, since the mural is located in a facility of this type, a military facility, the approach to it is restricted for many people, artists and painters, as well as citizens in general”, says Nikolova.
In the 1970s, Lazeski created murals representing the National Liberation War, and the first one was created in the Army House in the barracks in Veles. Although all documents say that it was painted in 1972, when the author created his piece he signed that it was painted one year earlier, in 1971. Unlike “Sutjeska” which is not located in a museum, his other pieces of art are available to the public. Two of his murals are in the Museum of Western Macedonia in the National Liberation War in Kicevo, and the last mural painted by Lazeski is in the Memorial Museum “11 October” in his hometown Prilep
