Thousands of citizens from Strumica and Kavadarci attended the open days organized by the Army and the Ministry of Defense in cooperation with the local governments this weekend, on the occasion of commemorating 75 years since the formation of NATO and four years since our membership in the Alliance.
During the open days in Strumica and Kavadarci, the visitors had the opportunity to familiarize with the technical characteristics of some military equipment and vehicles through direct communication with the army members, listen to music played by the military orchestra and watch the alpinist skills of the rangers from the Reconnaissance Battalion.
Citizens also had the opportunity to familiarize with the technical characteristics of combat systems and artillery equipment used by the Artillery Battalion, part of the armament, military equipment and vehicles from several units, including the 2nd Infantry Battalion, the Military Police Battalion, the CBRN Company and the Reconnaissance Battalion.
At the same time, the attendees had the opportunity to get acquainted with the military profession and the requirements for enlisting in the Army, for pilots in the AF WING, to take pictures in front of the army vehicles, including the latest JLTV vehicles, and to taste the famous “Army beans and tea”.
The event was attended by the Operations Command Commander, Brigadier General Besnik Emini and the Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, as well as representatives from the local self-government.
The events are the first two of the planned activities organized by the Ministry of Defense and the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, which mark 75 years since the establishment of NATO and also four years since our membership in the Alliance.
In the future period, the citizens of Shtip, Tetovo, Prilep, Ohrid, Kichevo and Skopje will have the opportunity to attend similar open days.
