Yesterday, 22 September (Sunday) Army Training Area (ATA) Krivolak hosted a tactical exercise with live ammo shooting “Reinforced mechanized infantry battalion in attack” performed by the units from the Medium infantry battalion group (MIBG).
The exercise was followed by: the Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Gorancho Koteski, Joint Operations Command Commander Major General Metodija Velichkovski, 1. Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commandeer Brigadier General Pavle Arsoski, commanders of the subordinate units and other guests.
The exercise was coordinated by 1.MIBr commander and prior to its execution there was a fair amount of training, trials and programmed live ammo shooting with the mechanized infantry sections, platoons and company, as well as live ammo shooting with mortar 82 mm, mortar 120 mm and howitzer 105 mm.
The exercise was conducted upon an imaginary scenario created on the bases of units’ utilization in peace support environment, crisis management operations, which will enable realistic conditions in order to evaluate the battle readiness and the interoperability of the declared units. This exercise is conducted in the frame of the preparatory training for the upcoming “Macedonian Flash-9” exercise and it was an ideal chance to see the readiness of the declared units which are part of the MIBG. Yesterday, ATA Krivolak was the place to see the great training and synchronization of the units on the battle field, demonstrated by an artillery preparation of the field with different weapons and destruction of the targets by the infantry units.
After exercise completion, the Chief of the ARM GS, Lieutenant General Gorancho Koteski did not hide the pleasure from the results and the training shown during the exercise, hence noting that in the period to come it should be a necessity to plan exercises for urban environment operations.
