From 02.04 to 30.04.2015 a platoon of the 3rd Mechanised Infantry Battalion within the 1st Machanised Infantry Brigade, Joint Operations Command (JOC), took part in the multinational exercise “Saber Junction – 15” (SJ-15) at the Joint Multinational Readiness center in Hohenfels, FR Germany.
The Exercise SJ-15 was led by USAREUR (U.S. Army Europe) is designed for units training up to brigade level with the aim interoperability of the armies of the USA, NATO member countries and international partners as a part of joint operation. The role of the ARM was maneuver activities and it operated under within the American squadron.
This exercise was realized in Germany, Lithuania, Italy and Romania. SJ-15 demonstrates the interoperability of the NATO allies and the partner countries during offensive, defensive and stability operations. At the exercise more than 4700 soldiers from 18 NATO countries and NATO partner countries of the Partnership for Peace (PfP) took part. Participating countries include Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, Great Britain, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Lithuania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Sweden and the USA.
The exercise was executed in three phases. The first phase was from 04.04 to 09.04 during which there was training and preparation for situational training exercises (STX). The STXs were conducted during the second phase from 10.04 to 18.04 and there was also preparation for the third phase which took place from 19.04 to 27.04 and it was a war simulation.
The three phases of the exercise were carried through combat activities and drills like attack, defence, movement to contact, building cleaning and negotiation skills and techniques.
The members of the 3rd Mechanised Infantry Battalion during the training, STX and the war simulation demonstraded high readiness and accomplished their tasks skillfully. Participating in the exercise the service personnel of this unit confirmed the high level of readiness of all ARM members and has proven that we are ready to carry out all tasks successfully and be on the same level as all the other armies in the world.
