As part of the planned program for the working visit to the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Republic of North Macedonia Army, today, the Director of the General Staff of the Army, Brigadier General Simeon Trajkovski, held a working meeting with the newly appointed non-resident Defense Attaché of the European Union for the Republic of North Macedonia, Colonel Ales Mynarik.
The Director of the General Staff expressed deep gratitude for the ongoing support provided through the European Peace Facility (EPF) for the allocated funds aimed at equipping and modernizing the Army, in the context of achieving the defined capability targets in line with the Defence Planning and Resource Orientation System (DPROS) 2023–2032. This support undoubtedly strengthens the Army’s capacities for participation in operations and missions within the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), as well as other international missions.
During the meeting, Colonel Ales Mynarik had the opportunity to learn about the current status of the development plans, the participation of Army personnel in international exercises, as well as potential areas and opportunities for future cooperation and support from the European Union in strengthening the capacities and capabilities of the Army.
Brigadier General Simeon Trajkovski emphasized that the Republic of North Macedonia continues its active participation in promoting peace and security, through our alignment with the EU Common Security and Defense Policy.
At the end of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of continuing and strengthening the current cooperation.
As part of today’s visit, Colonel Ales Mynarik visited the Engineer Battalion at the barracks “Chojlija”, where the equipment received from the EPF was presented.
