In accordance with the decision adopted by the Council of the European Union (EU) on the assistance measure through the European Peace Facility (EPF), an EU team is conducting a two-day working visit to the Army and the Ministry of Defense to review the proposal for the second support package for the Army’s needs.
On the first day of meetings between representatives of the EPF, the Ministry of Defense, and the General Staff of the Army, participants included the Director of the General Staff, Brigadier General Simeon Trajkovski, and the State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense, Elizabeta Chupovska Ristova.
Tomorrow, the EPF team will visit the “Jane Sandanski” barracks in Shtip and the “Chojlija” barracks in Petrovec, where a tactical-technical exhibition will be organized. The exhibition will showcase newly acquired equipment as well as planned facilities for storing the equipment.
In September, the EU Council approved an assistance measure under the European Peace Facility (EPF) in the amount of €13 million, aimed at equipping and modernizing the Army in the context of achieving the capability goals set in the Long-Term Defense Development Plan (LTDDP) 2023-2032.
The assistance measure will strengthen the Army’s capacities to participate in operations and missions within the framework of the EU’s Common Security and Defense Policy and other international missions.
