Within the framework of the preparations for the 18th Balkan Countries Chiefs of Defence Conference, which will be held in the period from 27 to 29 May 2025 in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye, the first meeting of the coordination group for the preparation of the conference was held in December 2024.
At the meeting, the representatives of the member states of the Balkan Countries Forum reviewed the tasks which came from the joint statement adopted at the 17th Chiefs of Defence Conference. In addition, tasks were developed for the subgroups for asymmetric threats, as well as for education, training and exercises.
At the same time, other documents necessary for the successful implementation of the 18th Conference were also prepared, as well as the conclusions of this first meeting of the coordination group.
At this meeting, the participants reaffirmed their commitment to improve and promote the regional stability and security in the Balkans through continued military cooperation.
