Today, February 27, 2025, the Chief of the General Stuff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, the Defense State Secretary Elizabeta Chupovska Ristova and the UK Ambassador Matthew Lawson, visited military barracks Jane Sandanski in Shtip. They observed a joined military exercise conducted by the Macedonian Army and the UK Armed Forces.
The exercise is scheduled training previously planned in the 10-month-plan for improvement of interoperability of the declared unit in Shtip. 10 UK specialized teams with 40 trainers for short-term training have conducted training in the last five years in urban fighting, reconnaissance operations and radio communications.
The ongoing training will help the service personnel to correctly use radio communication procedures as well as tactics and procedures of the allied armies with increased efficiency. The service personnel of the Light Reconnaissance units from the 2nd Infantry Battalion, who participate in this training, will be able to share their knowledge and skills with colleagues from their own units.
Before the demonstration exercise, there was a briefing informing the guests about the mission, tasks and improvement of the Light Infantry Battalion group. Concurrently, there was a display of newly acquired equipment, vehicles and other equipment which is part of the modernization and equipping of the Army.
