Today, 3rd April 2014 (Thursday), a briefing for the media was held at the General Staff (GS) of the ARM, with reference to the field exercise “Macedonian Flash – 10” – which is to be carried out at the Army Training Area “Krivolak” and the Training Centre (TC) “Pepelishte” in the period from the 5th to the 12th, April 2014.
The briefing was attended by: the Commander of the joint Operational Command (JOC) of the ARM, General Major Metodija Velichkovski; the exercise director Lieutenant Colonel Gjoko Maksimov; the spokesperson of the GS of the ARM and part of the key personnel form the GS of the ARM and JOC, engaged in planning and preparation of the exercise.
The most important information about the exercise was presented to the media representatives, as well as the possibility for its complete media coverage and presence of the media.
The carrier of the planning and realization processes of the exercise is JOC, and during the same the middle infantry battalion group (mibg) and the light maneuver infirmary will be evaluated (NATO evaluation – Level 2) in agreement with the Operational Capabilities Concept of NATO.
General Velichkovski pointed out that with this exercise “Macedonian Flash – 10” he expects confirmation of the high level of interoperability and operational capability of the ARM in carrying out missions led by NATO, EU and UN, as well as demonstration of the high level of combat readiness and capacity in dealing with high-risk tasks. He especially emphasized that with this exercise “Macedonian Flash – 10 “the process of evaluating the mibg is wrapped up, and it will be the only unit of this rank in the wider region in the following three years, certified by the alliance to participate in peacekeeping missions.
The evaluation of the mibg and the light maneuver infirmary will be carried out by an evaluating team from NATO, comprised of 16 members from various commands of NATO, most of who are representatives of the armies from countries members of NATO and the Partnership for Peace. Opening of the exercise “Macedonian Flash – 10” is planned for 7th April 2014 at the TC – “Pepelishte”.
