The Chief of GS of ARM, Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski, led the ARM delegation which paid an official visit to the United States Army Europe (USAREUR) Command in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Today the CGS of ARM met the USAREUR Commander Lieutenant General Frederick “Ben” Hodges, which has been the second meeting that they have had so far, because General Hodges visited ARM in Macedonia last November.
The main topic that General Velichkovski and Hodges were talking about was the positive outcomes of the mutual cooperation between ARM and US Army including participation in international exercises, support in training, strengthening of defense strategies and combat readiness, in order to achieve full interoperability with the armies of the NATO member countries.
During this official visit of CGS of ARM to USAREUR, a few other meeting were held with commanders of other units within the Command in order to coordinate the ways of cooperation of future activities organized by US Armed Forces European Command.
The US Army confirmed their trust in ARM by joint participation in different activities which was supported by mentoring training of ARM by professional teams of USAREUR. Additionally, ARM servicemen are part of the security detail of the Mission Command of the “Resolute Support Mission” in Afghanistan, international NATO exercise in Europe “Anaconda 16” and they will also be part of the “Cyber Guardian-17”.
The high level meetings between the Generals demonstrate continued support by the US Army in the accession of the Republic of Macedonia to NATO.
