In the General Staff of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski hosted a reception and a ceremony for granting certificates to ARM members who completed a language course in Turkish language during 2017.
At today’s ceremony were present the Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Tahir Bora Atatanir, Mr. Fuat Korkmaz, the Director of the Cultural Center and Institute for Turkish Language “Yunus Emre”, the Defence Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Rushen Abadinoglu and representatives of the Embassy of The Republic of Turkey in Macedonia and the “Yunus Emre” Institute.
General Velichkovski, after expressing his gratitude for the overall support of the Republic of Turkey for the integration of the Republic of Macedonia in the NATO Alliance, emphasized the benefit of studying the Turkish language as the basic condition for the transfer of acquired knowledge to the military educational institutions in the Republic of Turkey.
The cooperation in the field of military education with the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey has a special significance not only for the ARM, but also for the long-standing mutual friendship that connects our countries, said General Velichkovski.
In his speech, the Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Atatanir addressed the current friendly cooperation between the two countries, the constant striving for the use of the constitutional name of the Republic of Macedonia in NATO, the joint participation in the peace mission Resolute Support, as well as the overall inter-army cooperation in several areas.
Managing foreign languages, including the Turkish language, for the education of ARM members at prestigious military education institutions in NATO member-states is an important segment of interoperability with NATO’s military education.
In the past period, ARM members have been continuously sent and successfully completed their education at military academies, postgraduate studies and courses in various military fields of high military schools in the Republic of Turkey.
The acquired knowledge and experience of the ARM members at military educational institutions abroad is especially important for incorporating them into the military doctrine and planning of training and education in the ARM, which enables faster integration of the ARM in the NATO structures.
