Yesterday, 22.08.2013, the Army of Republic of Macedonia joined the effort to help the local population in distinguishing a fire in the near vicinity of Lisolaj and Drevenik villages close to Bitola. Two Mi 8/17 helicopters from the ARM Air force Brigade were in action around seven hours yesterday in extremely difficult weather conditions. ARM pilots managed to deploy 44 tubs or 44 tons of water in the vicinity of the village Lisolaj. By engaging ARM helicopters in the early hours of this day, the intervention for putting out the fire is still ongoing and so far 174 tons of water have been used which successfully thwarted the flames from making a disaster in the areas between the villages Lisolaj and Drevenik, and in the villages themselves. The use of the ARM helicopters in the Bitola area will continue as long as the fire is not completely localized.
In the last few days the ARM helicopters successfully intervened in distinguishing the fire in the region of Studenicani, near Skopje. In this way, the Army of Republic of Macedonia showed once more its readiness to help the citizens of Republic of Macedonia in the times when they need help the most.
