Today, (September 5), the General Staff of the ARM welcomed the Chief of the General Staff of the Albanian Armed Forces, Major General Gjemal Gjunkshi, with high military honors. The official visit is a two day visit of the ARM, and his host is Lieutenant General Gorancho Koteski, Chief of the General Staff of the ARM. During his stay in the General Staff, General Gjunkshi had a meeting with the Minister of Defense, Thalat Djaferi.
During the talks in the General Staff, the guests were familiarized with the defense reforms, the transformation of the ARM, with the new organizational structure and the ARM participation in international peace keeping missions. On the meeting was pointed out the great bilateral military cooperation, as well as the contribution that the two armies are giving in the integrative processes in the region through the Adriatic Charter (A5) and the long term participation in the Southeastern European Brigade (SEEBRIG).
Besides the continuity with active participation in joint projects, during the meeting both of the leaders expressed their readiness for widening the bilateral cooperation between the two armies in the field of military education, using the capacities of the regional training centers, as well as the possibility of future mutual engagement in the ISAF mission in 2014.
After the General Staff, General Gjunkshi visited the Military Medical Centre where they were introduced with the mission, tasks and capacities of the Centre and its capabilities of military and medical training.
ARM has developed excellent bilateral cooperation with the Albanian Armed Forces which is mostly seen in the field of the military education, training and exercises, on a bilateral plan and within the frames of the regional cooperation through joint participation in the projects of the Adriatic Charter, the Forum of the Chiefs of General Staffs of the armies of the Balkan countries and initiatives for Southeastern Europe. The visit by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Albania will contribute in the enhancement of the cooperation between the two armies which is already going in a good direction.
