The Commander of the NATO KFOR Mission to Kosovo, Major General Angelo Michele Ristuccia, who is attending his annual official visit to the Army General Staff, today met with the Chief of the Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski.
At the meeting, the Generals highlighted the excellent continuous coordination and cooperation between the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia and KFOR according to their competences.
They both stressed the importance of the direct participation of the Army forces that perform tasks and take part in Mission’s activities in the regional commands.
In addition, they discussed the security situation in the region, as well as future common activities for developing our cooperation so as to strengthen regional stability and security.
At the meeting General Ristuccia was also informed about the process of Army transformation and modernization, participation in operations and missions abroad, and activities in support of government institutions dealing with crisis, as well as possible trainings and exercises available at ATA Krivolak.
During his first official visit, after being appointed in October, today, General Rusticcia, accompanied by General Gjurchinovski is also going to visit government institutions, with which KFOR cooperates in the field of security.
The Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, who started participating in KFOR mission two years ago, contributes by deploying two staff officers in the Mission HQ and two security platoons in the KFOR Regional Command West.
In addition to our direct participation, since the launch of the operation we have continuously provided logistic support to KFOR transport of NATO regarding transport customs and border crossing procedures.
