The Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, at the invitation of the Embassy of the Republic of Italy, in Bitola participated in the celebration of the Day of National Unity, which is also the Day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Italy.
The ceremony, held in the city park in Bitola, was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to the Republic of North Macedonia, HE Andrea Silvestri, the military attaché Colonel Giuseppe Montalto and representatives of the Italian Army, the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, members of the diplomatic corps in the country as well as the mayor of Bitola, Mrs. Natasha Petrovska. In addition, General Gjurchinovski together with Ambassador Silvestri paid tribute by laying fresh flowers in front of the memorial dedicated to the fallen Italian soldiers from the World War I.
The cooperation of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia with the Armed Forces of the Republic of Italy is continuously at a high level. In addition to support in the field of military education and training, our staff officers also participate as part of the Italian contingent in the United Nations mission “UNIFIL” in Lebanon.
