Today at the barracks “Ilinden” the members of the Logistics Base (LB), which provides logistic support to the commands and units of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, marked May 20 – Day of the Unit.
The ceremony for marking the Day of the Unit was attended by the Minister of Defence, Radmila Shekerinska. The Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin and the Logistics Base Commander, Colonel Muharem Muharemi addressed the members of this unit.
In his address, General Nuredin pointed out that the members of the LB, with their professional completion of the logistic tasks and their work and direct medical support of the institutions for public health in dealing with the virus “Covid 19”, sent a message that the Army takes care of our country and citizens. Also, the unit and its good organization and successful carrying out of the logistic support for the current exercise “Decisive Strike 21” confirmed our position as an equal ally in NATO.
The Logistics Base Commander, Colonel Muharem Muharemi congratulated the Day of the Unit to all its members, he pointed out the role and the importance of the logistic support in the Army, the successfully completed tasks and the upcoming activities, and he also mentioned the historical development of the unit.
The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Bashkim Hasani, the Commander of the Operations Command, Major General Pavle Arsoski, representatives of the Ministry of Defence, the General Staff and Commanders of the commands and units. Incentive measures were also announced during this event.
During the previous period, besides providing logistic support to the Army, the Logistics Base was also engaged in providing assistance to the public health, which did not include only collecting, transport and storing of the vaccines and the protective means and equipment necessary for dealing with the pandemic, but it also included continuous engagement of the medical personnel in the battalion for military medical support in the health institutions in our country.
The Logistics Base carries the traditions of the Razlog Uprising and the first logistic preparations for organizing the uprising, and by a decree by the President of the Republic, this day is established as the Day of the Logistics Base.
