With a minute of silence and laying of fresh flowers at the memorial in Blace, Katlanovo, today, 12 January, the seventeenth anniversary of the tragic death of the eleven members of the Army, who lost their lives while returning from the ALTEA peacekeeping mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was marked.
Delegations from the Ministry of Defense and the Army General Staff, led by the Minister of Defense Vlado Misajlovski and the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, the Operations Command, the 1st Infantry Brigade, the Air Force Ving, the municipality of Petrovec and the family members paid tribute to the fallen members of the Army.
The Minister of Defence Vlado Misajlovski emphasized that today, at the site of this great tragedy, we pay tribute to the Macedonian heroes together with their family members, heroes who will never be forgotten.
Previously, at the Strasho Pindzhur Barracks in Petrovec, members of the Air Force Ving paid tribute by laying fresh flowers at the memorial in front of the Air Force Ving command.
The tribute to the eleven fallen Macedonian soldiers will also be paid at the memorial park in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where they served as part of the ALTHEA mission.
In the helicopter crash, seventeen years ago, while returning from the ALTHEA peacekeeping mission, Lieutenant Colonel Toni Spasovski, Major Goran Ristovski, Captains Brane Spasovski and Igor Gjoreski, Sergeants Slavcho Vasilev and Toni Davitkovski, Staff Sergeants Janko Shirikj and Aleksandar Taskovski, Sergeants Miki Ivanovski and Aleksandar Vasic, and Corporal Zlatko Veljanoski tragically lost their lives.
