Today, October 3rd, a delegation of the Atlantic Council of Canada visited the General Staff of ARM. The host of the meeting was Mayor General Dimche Petrovski, the director of the GS of ARM.
At the meeting, the guests from Canada were informed about the transformation in ARM, defense reforms and ARM participation in Peacekeeping missions. General Petrovski thanked Canada for the support it gives to Macedonia on its way of becoming NATO member. He stressed that in the past fifteen years 300 hundred ARM servicemen had attended different training centers in Canada and all of them evaluated the cooperation between ARM and Canadian Armed Forces as very successful.
The Atlantic Council of Canada was headed by July Lindhout who empathized the importance of the cooperation with Republic of Macedonia in the area of defense, especially highlighting the participation of ARM in the Peacekeeping missions. The Canadian delegation expressed a special interest for ARM transformation and NATO standards achievements and a will for further cooperation with Canada in the area of defense was agreed.
The Atlantic Council of Canada is nongovernmental, independent organization whose main mission is international peace and security promotion, NATO policy in Canada, USA and Europe, as well as the support of all NATO activities. Since the end of September, the Council’s delegation is on a tour through Europe and will visit: The Republic of Turkey, The Republic of Albania and The Republic of Macedonia.
