Today, 5th August the Chief of the General Staff of ARM, Lieutenant General Gorancho Koteski, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of MoD Iljmi Selami, the Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations Command Brigadier General Muhamet Racaj and the Deputy Commander of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade Colonel Velin Stojanovski, visited the areas in Tetovo that were severely damaged by the floods on 03.08.2015.
During the visit in Mala Rechica and Shipkovica the situation of the damages was evaluated and it was determined in which areas the ARM units will be able to give assistance in repairing the damages caused by the floods.
In the past few days, in the most severely damaged areas in Tetovo and its vicinity, Shipkovica, forty ARM members from the garrison in Tetovo together with the local residents have been working on repairing the damages of the floods. In the village Shipkovica ARM members with the help of military working dogs searched the area in order to find the girl who went missing during the floods.
For the flooded areas ARM also provided engineer vehicles and equipment as well as water tanker trucks with potable water for the local residents.
In the following days, there is a possibility for ARM members with engineering vehicles to provide support by constructing a bridge in village Poroj near Tetovo.
The members of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia have accomplished all their tasks with unselfishness, dignity and determination. In a very short period of time ARM was prepared to provide humanitarian relief for the local population mostly influenced by this natural disaster.
