The traditional pre-New Year meeting between the high officials of the Army and the Ministry of Defence with the families of the personnel of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia who are deployed to peace operations, this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic conditions, was held online.
At today’s meeting, the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski and the Deputy Minister of Defence, Bashkim Hasani, via a video conference, met with the peacekeepers and members of their families and wished them good health, success and prosperity for the New Year of 2021 and the upcoming holidays.
General Gjurchinovski, addressing the members of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia commended their professionalism and the results they have achieved during their deployment in peace operations. He also pointed out that this year we participate as a as fully-fledged NATO member, and apart from the ongoing operations like “Resolute Support” and “UNIFIL” we also have members in two other operations: “KFOR” in Kosovo and the EU mission “EUTM” in the Central African Republic.
The Chief of the General Staff told the peacekeepers’ family members that they should be proud of them since our solders represent the country in the best light as ambassadors of peace and with their selfless work and dedication contribute to the reputation which we have among our NATO allies.
The Deputy Minister of Defense, Bashkim Hasani addressing the peacekeepers and their families said that with their selfless dedication the peacekeepers reflect the accomplishment of mutual values and interests of the Republic of North Macedonia.
“Respected peacekeepers I am most certain that you will demonstrate your best and by doing so you will improve our reputation in the Alliance. Continue to be brave, motivated and dedicated to give your best but also to expand and share your experiences and knowledge. We will continue to be close to you and you will always have our help and support if they are needed.”- said the Deputy Minister.
During the video conference our peacekeepers in all operations expressed high motivation and readiness to carry out their peacekeepers’ tasks professionally and to represent our country with dignity as members of an Army which is a fully-fledged NATO member.
At the end of this year’s meeting with the peacekeepers some of the younger family members performed a recital with New Year wishes and songs.
