The Chief of the Army General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, held a farewell meeting with the Defense Attaché of the United States of America to our country, Colonel Daniel Squires, on the occasion of the completion of his assignment, today.
During the meeting, the successful bilateral military cooperation was highlighted, which is carried out through numerous joint training activities, support for the development of the Army’s capabilities, and U.S. assistance in the education and professional development of Army personnel at prestigious military educational institutions in the United States. This support was recognized as a significant contribution to strengthening the Army’s professional capacities.
In recognition of his contribution to advancing cooperation between the two armies, General Lafchiski presented Colonel Squires with the Army Gold Partnership, Coordination, and Cooperation Badge, and the Army Grand Plaque. He also wished him continued success in his career and in the execution of his future professional duties.
Colonel Daniel Squires has served as the Defense Attaché of the United States of America to the Republic of North Macedonia since 2024. Prior to his appointment to our country, Colonel Squires held several positions, including serving as the U.S. Defense Attaché to the Republic of Ghana, the Republic of Togo, and the Republic of Benin. During his military career, he was also deployed on missions in Iraq and the I.R. of Afghanistan.
