On the occasion of the Army Day, a traditional formal gathering of the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense employees was held at the military stadium in Skopje.
At today’s ceremony, promotion orders up to rank lieutenant colonel were read and plaques, badges, certificates of appreciation and other incentive measures were awarded to members of the Army General Staff and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The Army’s Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant-General Vasko Gjurchinovski, addressed the audience, congratulating the 31st birthday of the Army and the 80th anniversary since the formation of “Mirche Acev” Battalion. He awarded recognition to all employees of the General Staff and the Army, and thanked them for their effort, results and work in the past year, which, he said, are noted and recognized in the society.
General Gjurchinovski emphasized that in the past five years since he has been at the head of the Army, the promises related to the training, standard and status of the employees have been fulfilled for the most part, with the support of the Ministry of Defense.
He stated that we have obligation and debt to continue with the same intensity and continuity in the realization of all plans and goals, especially in the process of transformation and improvement of combat readiness as a whole.
“In the past period we reached truly immense results, we have a clear roadmap, where we should guide our priorities in the future, that is our debt and obligation towards the future generations of our fatherland,” said Gjurchinovski.
In her address at the event, Minister of Defense Petrovska said she was proud of the professionalism, motive and dedication with which defense reforms begun and major changes are carried out.
“A minister is as successful as her co-workers, and the facts show that the area of defense is exceptionally successful, which is not mine, nor any individual credit, but of all of us, because we are a family, an organism that functions only if we work as one, united in our shared goal,” said the Minister.
Minister Petrovska thanked the members of the Army for accepting every challenge as one more task to complete, with utmost dedication, professionalism and without hesitation.
Before the start of the ceremony, at the memorial of the defenders killed in 2001, in front of the MoD and GS, delegations led by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Chief of the General Staff paid tribute to the fallen defenders in the conflict in 2001.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Defense, Slavjanka Petrovska, the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, the Deputy Minister of Defense Tiron Jajaga, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, the Director of the General Staff of the Army, Brigadier General Simeon Trajkovski, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense, Vladimir Anchev.
