Today, 20th May 2015, at the Logistics Support Brigade, a ceremony was held on the occasion of the Logistics Support Brigade Day. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Defence Minister Iljmi Selami, the Deputy Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Naser Sejdini, the Joint Operations Command Commander (JOC), Major General Metodija Velichkovski, distinguished MOD and ARM GS representatives, commanders of subordinate commands and units of the ARM General Staff and other dignitaries.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the Director of the Military Museum of the Republic of Macedonia, Aleksandar Stojchev, in his address gave an overview explaining the historical roots related to the date of today’s occasion. He noted that the Logistics Support Bridage Day is celebrated to commemorate the day in 1876 when the Razlog Uprising broke out. The selfless sacrifice of Dimitar Pop Georgiev Berovski and other participants in the Razlog Uprising, who in those grim moments provided weapons, ammunition, gunpowder, and other sanitary materials for the rebels, is the first example of logistic support to an armed struggle. Therefore, this day is considered as a cornerstone of the Macedonian military logistics.
The Logistics Support Brigade Commander, Colonel Vladimir Stojanovski, pointed out that logistics is a complex category with numerous functions, activities, occupations, and other materials. In addition, he emphasized that the Logistics Support Brigade members know the mission and the core tasks well, and that the brigade has the capacity and knowledge to perform all the tasks arising from the mission, and it is the support of Army units, which will enable the successful completion of all tasks in peace, crisis and war.
The Deputy Defence Minister, Iljmi Selami, congratulating the day of the unit to the members of the Logistics Support Brigade said that what began on this day in 1876 as one of the first forms of organized planning and supply of materials within the uprising, today will continue to strengthen the Army operational capabilities as well as the ability of logistics and medical support in accordance with the NATO member states standards. Selami pointed out that during the next period, the aim is to improve the existing but also to develop new logistic capabilities and capacities.
At the ceremony, on the occasion of the day of the unit, incentives for Logistics Support Brigade members were read out and the best mechanic, driver, cook and athlete of the composition of the brigade were awarded commemorative prizes.
