Teams from the armies of North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia in the next five days will compete on the eleventh futsal “Peace Cup”, which has been officially opened today in the “Goce Delchev” barracks in Skopje.
During the opening which was attended by the Secretary-General of the International Military Sports Council, as an organizer of the futsal cup, Colonel Dora Manby Koita as well as the football manager, Colonel Abdulraheem Bello, the Defense Minister, Radmila Shekerinska addressed the audience and wished success to the participants in the following games, also, she expressed her believes that they will be played in a positive, friendly and sports manner, because the “participant nations know how to cooperate, compete and respect the fair play”.
Colonel Coita stressed that this regional cup is a truly successful competition which is held since 2009 and that as always, he expects the participants to give their best to become champions, showing mutual respect.
During the opening of the Cup, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin wished the participants excellent results in the competition, new friendships and a pleasant stay.
The competition in futsal – cup, among the armies in the region is eleventh in a row, and the initiative for its first occurrence was raised at the fourth Military Olympic Games in India, within the “Sport for Peace” seminar.
The last time the Army of North Macedonia hosted the “Futsal Peace Cup” was in 2013.
The Army is full member of the International Military Sports Council since 2005, when it was received as the 127th member of 140 members – armies from the whole world.
The regional “Peace Cup” started with the first match between the teams of the Army of North Macedonia and the Armed Forces of Serbia. The matches will take place until August 30, at the Sports Centre “Jane Sandanski” in Skopje.
