Today, 24th January, at the military barracks Chede Filipovski Dame in Kichevo, a ceremony was held on the occasion of the return of the ARM contingent, part of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade, which participated in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
The ceremony on the occasion of the return of the ARM contingent from the ISAF mission was attended by: the Minister of Defense Talat Xhaferi, Deputy Chief of Staff of the ARM Lieutenant-General Naser Sejdini, Commander of the Joint Operational Command of the ARM Major-General Metodija Velichkovski, Commander of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade Brigadier-General Pavle Arsovski, Chief of Staff at JOC Brigadier-General Stojan Dimchov, representatives from the MoD and the General Staff of the ARM, representatives from the local government, relatives of the contingent members and other guests.
“Showing your commitment, humanity, fighting spirit, readiness and unselfishness, separated from your loved ones, you were the ambassadors of peace from Republic of Macedonia in the international ISAF mission in Afghanistan. Your mission was to share common values and interests of the Alliance, with the Afghan people, in establishing peace, democracy, equality and mutual respect”, said the Minister of Defense of Republic of Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, at the ceremony held today at the Kichevo barracks “Chede Filipovski-Dame”, on the occasion of the return of the 15th rotation of ARM contingent of the ISAF forces in Afghanistan.
In his address, the Minister also referred to the efforts of Republic of Macedonia for continuous support in the process of democratization of Afghanistan, through its participation in the post-ISAF mission of the Alliance in the country, called “Resolute Support”.
In the 15th rotation as part of the ISAF forces, ARM participated with a Mechanized Infantry Company of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade which was appointed, together with the oldest national representative, in the main command of ISAF in Kabul. In the past six months the ARM members were responsible for securing the main ISAF command in the capital city, Kabul.
