The national holiday, Ilinden-the Day of the Republic, was commemorated by the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia with military honours and laying fresh flowers by high-ranking military delegations in Skopje, Pelince and Krushevo, honouring the 117th anniversary of the Ilinden uprising and the 76th anniversary of the first plenary session of ASNOM.
A delegation led by the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski laid fresh flowers at the ASNOM memorial centre in Pelince, the Director of the General Staff, Major General Zoran Mileski led the delegation which laid fresh flowers in front of the monument of Nikola Karev in Sliva and Mechkin Kamen in Krushevo, and a delegation led by the Deputy Commander of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Orce Jordev paid their respects in front of the monuments of ASNOM, Nikola Karev, the first President of ASNOM Metodij Andonov Chento, and the Monument to Freedom in Skopje.
Special procedures were followed during this year’s commemoration, which were in accordance with the protocol for celebrating national holidays in COVID-19 epidemic conditions.
