The Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, participated in this year’s annual meeting of the Deputy Chiefs of Defence of the SEDM Process (South-East Europe Defense Ministerial), which was held in Rome, Italy.
The meeting was opened with a statement given by the Italian Undersecretary of State of Defence, Matteo Perego, followed an address by the Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Bulgaria, and the Chairperson of the Political Military Steering Committee and the Coordination Committee of the SEDM Process, Atanas Zapryanov,
The participants discussed current regional security issues and the challenges arising from the Russian war aggression over Ukraine as well as the need for coordination in dealing with natural disasters through enhanced cooperation and support among member nations of the process.
The participants condemned the Russian war aggression over Ukraine, a member country of the SEDM Process. The participants were also informed about the most important SEDM processes and the activities of the South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG). At the end of the meeting the Deputy Chiefs of Defence adopted a Joint statement endorsing current activities and approving upcoming planned activities.
The next meeting of the Deputy Chiefs of Defence of the SEDM Process member nations will be organized by the Bucharest Secretariat.
