In accordance with the Military Protocol, Change of Command Ceremony was held in the Ilinden Barracks in Skopje, in presence of the Chief of the Army’s General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski and the Commander of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Besnik Emini.
With the ceremonial act of handing over the unit’s flag, a handover-takeover of duty commander of the Special Forces Battalion was officially carried out between Lieutenant Colonel Oliver Zariovski and Lieutenant Colonel Stefan Ivanovski.
In his address to the members of the unit, General Gjurchinovski acknowledged the work and commitment of the outgoing commander, who is appointed to a higher position, Chief of the Special Operations Unit at the General Staff.
He told the “Wolves” that the continuity in achieving the highest results is an imperative that must carry on parallel to the Army formation changes, especially in the next period in which this elite unit will mark 30 years since its establishment.
He congratulated the incoming commander on his new post and wished him success in performing his new duties and leadership that is appropriate for the unit’s reputation.
The outgoing commander, Lieutenant Colonel Oliver Zariovski, expressed his gratitude to the team, highlighting the achievements so far, including the successful evaluation and continuous assistance to the civilian structures. He wished the incoming commander a success in commanding the most elite unit in the Army.
The incoming commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ivanovski, thanked for the trust given to lead the battalion, and promised that with loyalty and integrity he will do everything for the unit’s future achievement of great results.
