One of the values important for the members of the Special Operations Regiment when completing their assignments is persistence. An example of persistence and a wish to complete one’s dream is certainly Second Lieutenant Robert Ivanov.
He started on the road to become a member of Special Operations Regiment back in 2001 when he enrolled at the Military Academy. Unfortunately, due to the structural reforms in the Ministry of Defence, a larger part of his class was not employed by the Army of the Republic of Macedonia. A job opportunity after graduating from the Military Academy was the penitentiary “Idrizovo” as a commander of security section.
Ivanov decided to fulfill his dream despite his permanent job in the penitentiary “Idrizovo”; in 2006 he applied to the open competition for new members of Special Operations Regiment.
At the extremely difficult and complicated selecting course, Robert gave his maximum and completed the whole 24 days course as one of the best candidates. Due to the transformations of the unit in that period he was not accepted. In 2009 he applied again at the selective course, completed it successfully, this time he was accepted in the Special Operations Regiment as a professional soldier.
Long years of joint effort of the General Staff and the Special Operations Regiment to make Robert Ivanov an officer were finally fruitful. On the 20th December 2013, with order of the CHOD of ARM he was promoted in Second Lieutenant.
For Second Lieutenant Robert Ivanov the long term fight to fulfill his dream is just a confirmation that makes him stronger and more determined. This will help him in the future to fulfill his life plans and to build a career as an ARM officer. The period of his career when he was a professional soldier will help him understand the requests and needs of the professional soldiers in the team where he is a commanding officer.
Ivanov, who does not try to hide his joy, admits that this fight would have been much more difficult or impossible without help of his closest family and his colleagues.
