On 21 October 2024, the Sergeant Major of the Army, Goran Kjirkovikj, conducted an official visit to the Macedonian contingent within the KFOR mission at Camp “Villaggio Italia” in Peja. During the visit, he held a meeting with the deployed NCOs and soldiers, emphasizing the importance of their professionalism and dedication to the mission, as well as their role within the peacekeeping forces in the region. Sergeant Major Goran Kjirkovikj also presented some of the activities undertaken by the Office of the Sergeant Major of the Army.
The soldiers and NCOs shared their field experiences, providing insights into the daily challenges they face and the lessons learned while working in an international operational environment. The fact that we continue to contribute to global security through participation in KFOR demonstrates the value of such visits, which primarily serve as moral support for the deployed personnel.
As part of the visit, Sergeant Major Goran Kjirkovikj also attended the rotation of the Slovenian contingent in the KFOR mission (SVCON 49 and SVCON 50). On this occasion, he met with his Slovenian counterpart, Sergeant Major Robert Rotar, and Master Sergeant Jurij Erzar, First NCO of SVCON 49.
