The servicemen of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia in the 12th rotation of the peacekeeping mission “Resolute Support” in Afghanistan celebrated 8th September- Independence Day of the Republic of North Macedonia, for the first time, as a full-fledged NATO member solemnly and with dignity, implementing all COVID-19 safety measures.
The ceremonies were held at locations where our servicemen have been deployed, at the main HQ of the mission and the Train Advise and Assist Commands (TAAC), “Capital” and “North”.
At the base of the main HQ of “Resolute Support” in Kabul, in the presence of servicemen of numerous coalition forces, there was a ceremonial line up and salute of the state flag. Apart from the Army servicemen that execute tasks within this command, the commander of the “Resolute Support” mission, General Scott Miller also attended the ceremony and addressed the members of the Macedonian contingent, congratulating the day of Independence.
Besides the members of the MACCON-12, the ceremony was enriched with the presence of: the base Commander Samet Juksel and the Commander of TAAC- Capital Brigadier General Ahmet Dener, the eldest representatives of the countries that have participants in the TAAC- Capital, as well as our citizens who work at the base as contractors.
On the occasion of the holiday, the national flag, raised together with the national flags of the other NATO members was replaced by the members of the 12th rotation of the TAAC- Capital.
