A working visit to the engineer battalion (EngBn), part of Operations Command (OC), was made by Command Sgt. Maj. from Vermont Army National Guard – US, John Digby, at military barracks ‘Ilinden’ in Skopje today. The Sergeant Major of the Army, Sergeant Majors of OC and the 1st Infantry Brigade, as well as a representative from US Office of Defense Cooperation with the Republic of N. Macedonia accompanied him. The aim of the visit was to familiarize with the capacities and capabilities of the unit.
The Command Sergeant Major of Vermont Army National Guard – US was met by the Engineer Commander and Sergeant Major. During the visi,t a briefing was held on the EngBn’s mission, organizational structure, new opportunities and capabilities, their involvement in trainings and exercises, as well as participation in natural disasters recovery actions and civil-military cooperation. Command Sgt. Maj. of Vermont Army National Guard – US showed particular interest in the capacities of the EngBn when conducting missions in the country and abroad.
The visit was concluded with a tour of the Memorial room, where the Command Sergeant Major of Vermont Army National Guard – US got acquainted with EngBn history.
