In the period from 10.03 to 12.03.2021 in the barracks “NH Strasho Pindzur” in Petrovec and on the slopes of Plachkovica the members of the search, rescue and guidance flight (SRGF), the Helicopter Squadron and part of the Air Force WING command conducted “Combat Search and Rescue” training, according to the annual training calendar of the unit.
As part of the plan, the training ended with the realization of a tactical task: “Combat search, rescue and retrieval of a casualty from inaccessible terrain” which was completed successfully and with great professionalism.
The following topics were covered during the training: orientation in unknown terrain, guiding a helicopter, entry and exit of a helicopter, infiltration, individual movement techniques in direct enemy contact, formations and movement techniques of a team, first aid, medical evacuation and exfiltration.
The main goal of the training is to enable the members of AF WING to perform combat search and rescue, finding and retrieving casualties in inaccessible terrain, gaining self-confidence and safety at work. This type of training is especially important, because in case of natural disasters or individual accidents, the training of AF WING personnel should be at a high level, ready to meet the challenges.
