Personnel of the Flight Support Platoon of the Command Company (FltSpPl/CmdCoy), within the Air Force WING (AF WING), conducted rappelling training in the Demir Kapija area from 10 to 16, September 2026.
The aim of the training was to improve the practical knowledge and skills of personnel for safe movement and task execution in steep and inaccessible terrain, with particular emphasis on the application of mountaineering techniques in missions involving search, rescue, and evacuation.
As part of the training, personnel enhanced their techniques for overcoming natural obstacles, ascending and descending rocky terrain, properly using mountaineering equipment, and establishing safety systems. Practical procedures were also conducted for constructing anchors, setting up rope bridges and zip lines, as well as establishing systems for extracting and safely transporting casualties from hard-to-reach locations.
The training was conducted by qualified and certified instructors from the Special Forces Battalion, in accordance with established training standard operating procedures.
Through the implementation of this training, personnel of the FltSpPl/CmdCoy further developed their individual and collective capabilities, contributing to the maintenance of the required level of readiness to perform assigned tasks and provide effective support to the mission of the AF WING.
