The Reserve Forces celebrated the Day of their unit, the 11th of March at the military barracks “Borko Menkov” in Kumanovo.
There were many guests at the celebration including the Commander of the JOC, Major General Vasko Gjurchinovski, the JOC 2IC, Brigadier General Pavle Arsoski, JOC Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Arsim Nuredin, representatives of the Officers in reserve Association, as well as local officials of Kumanovo.
The unit Commander, Colonel Kiro Kalkov addressed the guests saying that he is proud to be part of the tradition of reserve forces. He also talked about the historical event which happened on the 11th of March, 1992, at the border watchtower “Ramna niva” near Kriva Palanka, when the national flag was put on the state border for the first time, marking the establishing of the Macedonian territorial integrity and the Army of Republic of Macedonia.

Incentive awards were given to the unit personnel for the Day of the unit as a result to their dedicated work and achievements. There were also some letters read for the Day of the unit to congratulate on their celebration.
The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Macedonia, the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov, brought a decree to celebrate the 11the of March as the Day of the Reserve Forces, because it was the day when the first border watchtower “Ramna niva” near Kriva Palanka was made Macedonian. It is an important day as part of other important dates which are celebrated as the foundation of Macedonian army tradition.
