Members of the Military Police Battalion marked “October 29 – the Day of the Military Police Battalion”, with a military ceremony held in “Ilinden” barracks in Skopje.
The Military Police Battalion (MPBn) upholds the traditions from 29 October 1878, when during the Kresna Uprising a written order was issued for the formation of military-police units to enforce order and peace in the liberated territories of Macedonia, which is the essential role of military police.
In his address, the commander of the MPBn, Lieutenant Colonel Kire Nikolovski emphasized that the mission and tasks conducted by the unit’s members, and entrusted by the superiors, do not allow improvisation and selectivity. “We proudly celebrate our predecessors, but also the transformation process will create a modern unit, recognized by domestic and foreign partners.”
At the ceremony, congratulations messages on the day of the unit were read, as well as promotion orders and incentive measures. The members of the unit retired in the current year were awarded coins and a modest retirement gift.
The ceremony was attended by: the commander of the Operations Command (OC), Brigadier General Besnik Emini, the Chief of Staff of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, the commander of the 1st IBde, Brigadier General Sashko Lafchiski, the commander of the Training and Doctrine Command, Colonel Vasko Kokolanski, the commander of the “Ilinden” barracks, Colonel Muharem Muharemi, commanders of units in the Army, former commanders and members of the unit and other guests.
As part of the celebration of the unit’s day, several activities were conducted: a humanitarian donation of food products in several institutions and a voluntary blood donation in the GH “8 September” Skopje, during which 19 units of blood were collected.
