The Day of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion (2nd MIB), September 17th, was celebrated in the military barracks “Jane Sandanski” in Stip, and the exercise “National Response 2019” was officially opened.
The ceremony was attended by the JOC Deputy Commander, Brigadier General Orce Jordev, 1st MIB Commander, Colonel Besnik Emini, Battalion Commanders, Mayors, Directors of Public and Private Enterprises, and representatives of the Civil Organizations of the MIB 2nd Zone of Responsibility.
In front of the unit and the guests present at the ceremony, the Commander of 2nd MIB Lt. Mirce Tasev had an appropriate address. In his speech he referred to the historic route of the 14th Macedonian Youth National Liberation Strike Brigade, and noted that we are proud to continue the fighting traditions of that glorious brigade. The strength of this unit comes from the courage and honesty of those who serve in the Army professionally and with dignity. Therefore, he emphasized that the motto of the unit has always been and will be HONOUR AND STRENGTH.
On the occasion of the Day of the Unit, a fresh flower was laid at the commemoration landmark “Macedonia” in the “Jane Sandanski” barracks in Stip, in honour of the members of the 2nd MIB who lost their lives in the 2001 conflict. The ceremony was also attended by students from the elementary school “Dimitar Vlahov” – Stip, and a presentation of the weapons and equipment available to the unit was organized. The first platoon of the Third Mechanized Infantry Company was selected as the best platoon.
The opening ceremony of the exercise “National Response 2019” was held as a part of the ceremony. At the opening ceremony, a part of the Army units engaged in the exercise, the Crisis Management Center, the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, the Red Cross, the Ministry of Health, the municipal crisis management forces of the city of Stip and EVN were lined up. The Deputy Commander of the Joint Operational Command, Brigadier General Orce Ordev, addressed the ceremony on the occasion of the drill, saying that the drill was designed to bring all institutions together if they needed to respond immediately to the consequences of an elemental disaster. He wished good cooperation and successful work to all participants, after which he declared the exercise open.
