Marking the Day of the 1st Infantry Brigade (1InfBde), for the second time there were Infantry War Games at the military barracks “Kuzman Josifovski – Pitu” in Tetovo.
The Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade (1nfBde) Brigadier General Sashko Lafchiski attended the opening ceremony, including service personnel form the Command and the Headquarters of the 1InfBde, commanders of the battalions within the 1InfBde, Command Sergeant Majors and Sergeant Majors of the units.
The Commander of the 1InfBde at his opening speech said that at this kind of contest not only the competitive capability was built, but also the team spirit of the unit was strengthened. He reminded the contestants that the motto of the 1InfBde “Honor and Strength” should be their imperative during the competition, which means to be fair, dedicated, perseverant, strong and true to the unit’s motto while competing. In addition, the Commander said that the 1InfBde is the “punch in the Army’s fist” always ready to defend the motherland, a unit with a primary role in meeting NATO capability objectives, therefore, it is logical to include war games in the annual activities of the Unit.
Eleven teams of contestants participated during four days of competition in the following disciplines: military training ground, endurance proving ground, tactical gun competition, use of training hand grenade in different situations, battle march and shoot, relay running, and Cross fit competition for team work.
Today, the 22 March, the Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade announced the winners and closed the Infantry War Games 2024, while the Chief of Staff of the Operations Command (OC), Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski was attending. In his closing speech the Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade said: “Let these war games be a motivation for improving the competitive spirit and enhancing the professional capabilities of the service personnel of the brigade.”
The best team was the First team from the Second Infantry Battalion, the runner-up was the first team of the First Infantry Battalion and the third place belonged to the Second team of the Second Infantry Battalion. The best female contestant was Corporal Andrijana Taleska from the Artillery Battalion, and the best male contestant was Lance Corporal Bojan Ignatovski from the Second Infantry Battalion.
The Chief of Staff of the Operations Command, the Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade, and the Command Sergeant Majors of the OC and the 1InfBde awarded the best with medals and diplomas for their achievements.
