Resident and non-resident defense attachés from several countries, accredited in the Republic of North Macedonia, accompanied by the commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Sashko Lafchiski and the deputy commander of the 2nd Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Mitko Popov, toured the south border in the region of Gevgelija.
During the visit to the border crossing with the Hellenic Republic, a briefing was held for the defense attachés in the watchtower “Bogorodica” on the engagement of the 1st infantry brigade units, which are Army units dealing with the migrant crisis on the south boarder.
At the end of tour, the attachés also visited the Temporary Transit Centre “Vinojug”, where the officials were introduced to the situation and previous experiences with the migrant crisis, and gratitude for the visit was expressed.
The tour of the Defense Attachés Association is a regular activity realized annually based on the Cooperation Program of the Ministry of Defense and the Association.
