On 26 June 2026, as part of the Annual Cooperation Program, the Association of Defence Attachés accredited to the Republic of North Macedonia visited the Second Infantry Battalion (2nd IBn) within the First Infantry Brigade (1st IBde).
The delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade, Colonel Blerim Ismaili, and the Commander of the 2nd Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Risto Stoev, together with the Battalion’s Command and Staff service personnel.
During the visit, the Defence Attachés were briefed on the Battalion’s history, organizational structure, mission, and tasks, as well as its current and planned activities. They were also informed about the unit’s ongoing modernization and equipment procurement process in accordance with NATO standards.
After the briefing, the delegation had the opportunity to view a selection of the Battalion’s weapons and military equipment firsthand.
Following the scheduled activities, the Defence Attachés met with the Mayor of the Municipality of Pehchevo, Mr. Aleksandar Kitanski, as well as the Commander of the Border Police in Pehchevo. During the meeting, they were briefed on the municipality’s key characteristics, as well as the organization, mission, and tasks of the Border Police.
As part of the visit, the delegation also visited the “Ravna Reka” recreational area, located in the scenic Maleshevo Mountains near Pehchevo.
Visits by Defense Attachés to units of the 1st Infantry Brigade are a regular activity conducted under the Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Defence and the Association of Defence Attachés accredited to the Republic of North Macedonia.
