With a modest military ceremony at the NATO base in Latvia, the handover of duty was carried out between the commander of the CBRN section, Sergeant Sasho Despodovski and Staff Sergeant 1st Class Dimitar Janev, commander of the artillery section, which starts carrying out tasks within NATO’s “enhanced Forward Presence”.
The ceremony was attended by the Commander of the Latvian Land Forces Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Colonel Sandris Gaugers, the Commander of the NATO’s battlegroup and the national representatives of the NATO countries in the base.
Sergeant, Sasho Despodovski emphasized the experience gained in the joint forces of the NATO Alliance in Latvia and that it is an honor to represent the country as part of international forces.
The Staff Sergeant Janev emphasized the trust given and the readiness of our contingent to continue with great commitment to perform tasks and challenges together with all other NATO members, in order to preserve peace and stability in this part of Europe.
Colonel Sandris Gaugers also addressed the audience and thanked the representatives of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia for their commitment and professionalism in carrying out the tasks and challenges they faced in international operations. Incentive measures were awarded to some of the staff.
The ceremony ended with a solemn act of handing over the national flag.
