A formal ceremony marking the change of command at the Training Flight Squadron, unit of the Air Force WING, was held on 15 June 2026. During the ceremony, command of the unit was transferred from Lieutenant Colonel Boris Nastovski to the newly appointed Major Aleksandar Donev.
In his address, the Air Force WING Commander, Colonel Dragan Pavlovski, highlighted the importance of the Squadron in the preparation and professional development of personnel, emphasizing that the unit represents a key element in the development and sustainment of the Army’s aviation capabilities. He stressed the need to continue active participation in the NATO Flight Training Europe (NFTE) initiative and to further enhance the Army’s training and aviation capabilities. He also underlined the importance of reactivating the Pilot Training Centre as a significant strategic objective for ensuring the long-term operational sustainability and professional development of aviation personnel. Colonel Pavlovski thanked Lieutenant Colonel Nastovski for his contribution and wished success to the newly appointed commander.
Lieutenant Colonel Nastovski gave a brief overview of the achievements accomplished during his tenure, highlighting the professionalism and dedication of the personnel, as well as the unit’s contribution to the NATO NFTE initiative.
Expressing his gratitude for the trust placed in him, Major Donev reaffirmed his commitment to further develop the unit’s capabilities, enhance training, and successfully execute assigned tasks, as well as to strengthen the Squadron’s role within the Air Force WING and the Army.
As part of the ceremony, the official handover of the Squadron’s military flag was also conducted. The event was attended by representatives of the Operations Command, the 1st Infantry Brigade, and members of the Air Force WING.
