According to the annual training plan for 2022, the Military Police Battalion (MPBn) conducted Winter Warfare Training (WWT) in the Garrison of Tetovo. The training was conducted in four groups from 7th February until 4th of March 2022.
The MPBn personnel took part in various courses and training in-country and abroad in order to get this kind of training.
The aim and objective of this kind of training is MPBn personnel to train and drill tactics, techniques and procedures for cold weather operations and winter warfare. In addition, they learned to conduct assigned tasks on various kinds of terrain, in cold weather, including learning how the equipment and people react to low temperatures in mountain warfare. Additionally, they trained to acquire winter first aid skills including, treating frost bites. Other skills included orientation and movement on skis, snowshoes and other devices on snow covered terrain. The final part of the training was building and staying overnight in a mountain snow shelter such as an igloo, snow cave and bivouac. In these winter conditions, the drivers of motor vehicles had additional motivation to hone their driving skills on harsh terrain and snow covered terrain.
Every training topic was covered and every training task was successfully conducted in accordance with the training program. MPBn personnel demonstrated high potential, professionalism and readiness in conducting the assigned tasks. Collective teamwork contributed to the improvement of their training level, strengthening the team spirit, which amends the personnel’s self-confidence, self-assurance and necessary qualifications to conduct tasks in mountain warfare.
